We're super stoked about this show Thurs., September 24 at Royal Oak Music Theatre bringing Father John Misty together with Mikal Cronin. We've got a feature on Misty to appear on Wednesday, but just wanted to make sure this is on your radar.

Josh Tillman has long distanced himself from the days of drumming for Fleet Foxes with a burgeoning solo career as Father John Misty, the idiosyncratic folk rock singer with his second record out on Sub Pop. I Love You, Honeybear is one long, bizarre love letter to this new bride, photographer Emma Gar, rife with jealousy, insecurity, and other Freudian hang-ups that often verge on hilarity.

Misty has extended his tour and invited Laguna Beach native Mikal Cronin for the last leg. Cronin’s third album MCIII is also a reflection of self-struggle, but in the form of beautifully wrought pop songs featuring a full-string quartet.

Starts at 7:30 p.m.; 318 W 4th St., Royal Oak; 248-399-2980 ext. 3; royaloakmusictheatre.com; tickets are $27 in advance and $30 day of; all ages.
