Don't you forget about Simple Minds who are performing at the Fillmore

Though many songs may come to mind when you think of the 1980s, perhaps none capture the era quite like the sounds of Simple Minds. The Scottish rock band formed in 1977 and chased a string of No. 1 albums, making them the most commercially successful Scottish band of the decade. But it wasn’t until 1985 that Simple Minds would become completely unforgettable, as their hit “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” scored one of the most iconic moments in cinematic history — you know, the final scene in coming-of-age classic The Breakfast Club.

Simple Minds will perform at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14 at The Fillmore; 2115 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-961-5451; thefillmoredetroit.com; Tickets start at $48.
