China Ruby's long run in downtown Ferndale has come to an end, and a new eatery called La Feast Mediterranean Grill will open in its place.

An employee with La Feast, which currently has a location in downtown Royal Oak, tells Metro Times the restaurant will be open in two to three weeks. La Feast's menu includes many of the Mediterranean standards like shawarma, ghallaba and tawook. It also has several Egyptian dishes — koshary and bamya — as well as a wide selection of drinks like potassium broth with carrot, celery, spinach, and parsley.

It's unclear why China Ruby closed and the restaurant's phone number is disconnected. It's been several weeks since the store at 157 W. Nine Mile Rd. has been open, but we'll update the story with more information when it's available.

La Feast will join Peruvian restaurant Culantro in opening in April in Ferndale.
