Ferndale plant-based restaurant GreenSpace Café is adding a list of comfort food entrees and other items to its menu, including loaded nachos with seitan chorizo and cashew sour cream; a shiitake Bac’n Cheezburger; an al pastor Cubano with pineapple-marinated jackfruit; and a three-bean Sloppy "Joel."

The menu expansion, which is GreenSpace's first since it opened three years ago, also includes several dairy-free milkshakes with flavors like pumpkin spice, chocolate raspberry and strawberry matcha — each comes with the option to add booze. Among new dessert specials are pumpkin crème brûlée, Michigan apple pie with date caramel, chocolate chip cheesecake, and Superman ice cream made from pea milk.

Additions to GreenSpace's brunch lineup include avocado Benedict, tofu huevos rancheros and French toast. Allergy-friendly gluten-, soy- and nut-free options are available, as are oil-free and children's items.

Just down Nine Mile Road, Otus Supply launched a new brunch menu over the weekend "drawing inspiration from the forefathers, history and inspiration of the Great Lakes region," along with traditional brunch dishes, the company says in a press release.

That means options like a Cinnamon Crunch sourdough pancake, PBLT (chile-honey glazed pork belly, greens, wood-fired tomatillo, spicy cranch, and grilled sourdough); steel cut oats “risotto” (squash, sweet potato, Swiss chard, and parmesan) along with traditional items such as Eggs Your Way, ham and cheese croissants, and yogurt and granola.

Drink options include micheladas, mimosas, bloody Marys and other standard brunch libations, plus concoctions such as gin and juice with gin and fresh-pressed juices of the day.
