Laurie Lindeen — the leader of ‘90s Minneapolis female alt-rock band, Zuzu’s Petals and the wife of former Replacements frontman Paul Westerberg — is about to see her debut book, a memoir titled Petal Pusher, published in paperback on September 16th.
In anticipation of the publication, Ms. Lindeen will be in the Detroit area this weekend to present two readings from her book, which deals with her struggles with multiple sclerosis as well as another struggle — trying to make it in the male-dominated rock world of that time. The book also chronicles meeting her “Prince Charming” in the form of fellow Minneapolis rocker Westerberg, with whom she has a son named John Paul (not named after the Pope, we bet). Lindeen — who’ll be reading with Detroiter Judy Davids, author of My Life as A Rock Star Mommy, at both events — will be at Northville Candle and Gifts (124 N. Center Street, Northville) on Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. (after the readings, Davids’ band, the Mydols, will be appearing across the street at Chase Bar and Grill); and at the Royal Oak Barnes & Noble (500 S. Main, Royal Oak; 248-336-9490) on Sunday, July 27th.
