City Slang: Suzi Quatro DMA appearance in doubt

Apr 2, 2012 at 7:13 am

The week, not to mention the month of April, has gotten off to a shitty start, as we have learned that Suzi Quatro's highly anticipated appearance at this year’s Detroit Music Awards is in doubt due to an accident.

According to a statement from her fan club, “Suzi has asked us to inform you all that she has had an accident whilst getting off an aircraft in Kiev. She has suffered a broken left wrist and broken right knee-cap, and is in plaster casts for both. Unfortunately, this now means that Suzi's appearance in Detroit has been canceled. Obviously, Suzi's welfare is the most important thing as I’m sure you all agree. We'll keep everyone updated on how Suzi is doing.”

Patti Quatro has stated on her own Facebook page that, "PLEASURE SEEKERS/CRADLE WILL PERFORM AT DMA, AS PLANNED........with a surprise guest sitting in on bass. STAY TUNED........ We will do this in honor of Suzi, who in the tradition of our father, would want the show to go on. thank you all for your understanding and patience........ xoxo."

However, a spokesman for the DMA's told us that, while the injury is true, Suzi's appearance has not yet been officially cancelled. Fingers crossed for a fast recovery.

City Slang, like everyone, is terribly disappointed that we might not get to see Suzi rocking the DMA’s, but the cancellation would be understandable. We hope she recovers quickly.

UPDATE: It has now been officially confirmed that Suzi will not be performing at the DMAs, though it looks like the Pleasure Seekers will still play, with a stand-in bass player.
