Midtown's Park Shelton building tenants Nom Nom's Cupcake Factory and Detroit Pizza Co. abruptly closed on Aug. 10.

A message left on Detroit Pizza Co.'s Facebook page simply says the restaurant is closed and thanks its customers for their support. Calls to its phone number weren't answered.

A message on Nom Nom's website says that the shop is also closing its Westland location but will continue taking orders via its webstie for cupcakes, pies, cheesecakes, and pastries.

The message reads, "We are thrilled to be taking steps forward to concentrate on corporate accounts and custom orders. We will be completing all standing orders while we await the move to our new kitchens. As soon as that location is running, we will be able to resume taking new special orders."

The Daily Detroit reports that The Detroit Pizza Co. opened three years ago, and was known for 89 cent slices and offering a large pizza with one topping for $5.99.

The shops occupied what is some the city's best real estate. Both fronted Woodward in a block between Kirby and Ferry streets, and are neighbors with Chartreuse. We'll keep you posted on what's up next in the locations.
