The Queen of Pop’s father has put his Michigan winery up for sale.
Madonna, born Madonna Louise Ciccone in Bay City to her father Silvio “Tony” and mother Madonna (who died when the pop star was only five), has a history in the Detroit area, but her father went north as the singer’s career was going global. According to Madonna: An Intimate Biography, Madonna and her father had a strained relationship after he remarried his second wife, Joan.
Joan and Tony opened the 78 acres that make up Ciccone Vineyard & Winery in Northern Michigan’s Leelanau Peninsula in the late 1980s. Madonna’s sister Paula was the winemaker for the winery. Their first vintage was in 1998, with a tasting room being added to the property two years later in 2000.
“They were one of the first to plant grapes in Northern Michigan,” realtor Blake Bernard told Realtor.com. “We have 40 wineries now. I’ve been licensed [as a Realtor] for 10 years. This is the second time I’ve seen a property like this and the first time of this size and scale.”
The Ciccones lived at the winery’s five-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom property, but the realtor says the home can be turned into a vacation rental or wedding instead.
The listing went up for sale in June. It’s listed for a cool $4.9 million and comes completely move-in ready.
