The Michigan State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation have executed search warrants at the Highland Park home and Lansing office of state Senator Bert Johnson, according to an MSP spokesman. The warrants are connected to an ongoing joint investigation of the Democrat, who represents the state's 2nd senate district that includes part of Detroit and Highland Park, Hamtramck, Harper Woods and the five Grosse Pointe communities.

According to the Detroit News, agents were seen exiting Johnson's house with boxes and bags of stuff Monday morning. Camera flashes were going off on the second floor of the two-story house. During the raid in Lansing, police blocked the elevator to his office.

Johnson has had run-ins with the law in the past over financial issues.
