City Slang: Sponge in-store news

This Friday, September 13, rockers Sponge will play an in-store and a party to celebrate the release of the new Stop the Bleeding album.

The band will be at FYE in Berkley from 6 p.m., then at the Diesel Lounge in Chesterfield. Doors are at 7 p.m.

According to a statement, “While Stop the Bleeding won’t be available nationally until it’s official release date of September 17, at both FYE and Diesel, fans will have the opportunity to be among the first to purchase the new disc.
During both shows, Sponge will be collecting items for the Detroit Firemen’s Benevolent Fund. The non-profit fund - originally formed to assist families of fallen and disabled firefighters- is currently seeking the following items to distribute among its 60+ Detroit Firehouses – toilet paper, paper towel, cloth dish rags, dish soap, hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial hand soap and dish towels. Given the City’s financial struggles, Detroit Firehouses are in desperate need of these items for their day-to-day operations.”

"The Detroit Firefighters lay their lives on the line every day doing extremely difficult work in extremely difficult times," explains Vinnie Dombroski, Sponge's lead singer.
