What the world needs now is some feel-good tunes, and no one is quite as capable of delivering as the king of kindness Frank Turner.

Sure, the singer-songwriter from across the pond might not be a household name, but Turner has seven solo albums under his belt since his split as frontman for the post-hardcore group Million Dead. His most recent record, 2018’s Be More Kind, is a joy — calling to mind a summer road-trip of friendship and high-fives. Turner will be accompanied by his backing band, the Sleeping Souls. Lucero, the Menzingers, and Homeless Gospel Choir round out the bill.

Frank Turner and the Sleepy Souls will perform on Thursday, May 31 at The Fillmore; Doors open at 6 p.m.; 2115 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-961-5451; thefillmoredetroit.com; Tickets start at $29.50.
