A WORTHY CAUSE

The Deastro show at the Crofoot this Friday, May 23rd -- which was the tagline to Ms. Wendy Case’s excellent article on the dude (and which led to yet another shitstorm on one of the local Bozo blogs this week – which I may or may not address in the near future, depending on how bored I get) -- is in fact a benefit for Laura Rock, who, according to a statement from Electric Six (the headliners of the benefit), is “in a tough position and is in need of all of our support at this time

Laura's a long standing supporter and friend of the Detroit music scene, and she's recently had some critical health issues arise, and along with that comes the associated astronomical costs. So, to at least try to make a dent in that, E6 is part of the best lineup Detroit area music fans will see all year, with all proceeds from the show being donated to Laura and her family.”

In addition to Deastro and Electric Six, others on the bill include the Meatmen (fronted by original founder Tesco Vee), SSM, Johnny Headband and Carjack. All that for $15. And a great cause on top of it all. This is the kinda stuff that actually matters on a local scene and in a local community, folks.
