The Bishop Mansion in Detroit is going up for auction [PHOTOS]

This piece of Detroit history hit the market in May 2023 for nearly $9 million. About a year later, since the home still hasn't sold, it's going up for auction.

The estate was once owned by former Detroit Pistons star John Salley. In 2017, the mansion sold for a reported $2.5 million.

It was built in the mid-1920s for the Archdiocese of Detroit. With 12 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, the mansion is stunning despite being stripped to its bones in some rooms. With high ceilings and a gorgeous entryway, it’s the very picture of old-fashioned beauty. Located in the Palmer Woods neighborhood, the home sits on 2 acres of land. Much of the construction has been completed, the real estate listing says, with other elements to be completed soon. New landscaping and a pool are also slated to be finished by the end of the spring. The carriage house and garage have been restored and renovated, as well.
