If/Then

Jan. 25-Feb. 16

What if? At the heart of every choice we’ve ever made lies this question. What if we had chosen differently? How would our lives be changed? If/Then follows Elizabeth, a newly divorced urban planner who moves back to New York for a fresh start. Sitting at a park with friends one day, she finds herself facing a simple choice when her life suddenly splits in two and each possibility plays out, leading her down two very different paths. Nominated for several Broadway awards, If/Then is a fresh and witty musical that will charm and surprise.

Two brilliant female evolutionary biologists share a bold, contrarian approach to their male-dominated field, but the younger scholar challenges the older woman’s work with a radical new theory—one that could change society’s basic understanding of female sexuality. This keenly perceptive play explores the difficult choices of modern American women and generational divides in feminism. Directed by David Wolber, The How and the Why features Sayre Fox and Diane Hill. $22 (Pay-what-you-can tickets available for every performance)
