Ferndale's StoreFront Gallery has an exciting event on its calendar. Painter and illustrator Matt Gondek will make his maiden voyage to Detroit, appearing at the first solo exhibition of his work in Michigan inside the gallery on November 21.
Gondek is probably best known for painting iconic cartoon characters with their faces blown off. Homer Simpson, Lois Griffin, Garfield, Bugs Bunny, He-Man, and a slew of other animations have been lampooned by Gondek.
The show, called "Unholy Hands," will feature Gondek's newest works and prints will be available for purchase.
Gondek's appearance also marks a special occasion for the StoreFront Gallery. "Unholy Hands" will be the first exhibition by a national artist to take place inside the space.
The show will run from 5-11 p.m. on November 21 and is free to the public. StoreFront Gallery is located at 477 W. Marshall in Ferndale.
