Southwest Detroit slated to receive $16M mixed-use development

Southwest Detroit slated to receive $16M mixed-use development

The city announced plans for a new $16 million mixed-use development planned for Southwest Detroit on Tuesday morning.

The new development will feature 60 apartments, 40 parking spaces, and 5,000 feet of retail space in view of the Michigan Central Station (and future Ford Campus). Located at the intersection of Bagley and 16th Streets, the plot of land currently sits vacant, but developers Woodborn Partners hope that it will help to increase the neighborhood connection between Hubbard Richard and Mexicantown.

"We look forward to creating a development that will be truly exceptional and reflective of the vibrant legacy of Hubbard Richard, Mexicantown and the entire Southwest," said Woodborn's managing partner Clifford Brown in a press statement. "This is one more brick in building upon what are already strong neighborhoods and communities."

Woodborn Partners have previously developed The Coe in West Village and The Scott at Brush Park which both opened in 2017. The new development is expected to be complete by 2020.
