Highland Park kidnapping charges have been dropped against two alleged Detroit serial rapists

In a preliminary hearing at the 30th District Court on Tuesday, charges were dropped against Aaron Rashard Stewart, 22, and Quentin Davon Flemons, 19, who were connected to the sexual assault, kidnapping, and unarmed robbery of a Highland Park woman.

The 31-year-old victim was riding her bicycle on July 18, 2016 near Second Avenue and West McNichols Road.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, they were unable to proceed with preliminary examination and the case was dismissed.

However, the case was dismissed without prejudice. Meaning, if more evidence is found or witnesses come forward with additional information, the defendants can be re-charged.

Per the Highland Park case, Stewart and Flemons faced the following charges:

Stewart: kidnapping, three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct, unarmed robbery, plus stealing and/or retaining a financial transaction device.

Flemons: kidnapping, two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct, third degree criminal sexual conduct, unarmed robbery, stealing and/or retaining a financial transaction device.

Stewart and Flemons aren't off the hook, however. According to the prosecutor's office, they have been returned to the Wayne County Jail where they have been bound over for trial in the Third Circuit Court for the Sept. 30 kidnapping and sexual assault of a 24-year-old woman in Detroit and an Oct. 8 incident with a 27-year-old woman in Hamtramck.
