El Club just announced a rad-looking indie music festival which heads to the Southwest venue on July 20-23. It's called Waking Windows. It's the first year in Detroit for the fest, which is the brainchild of their general manager, Nick Mavodones. W.W. is already in its seventh year as a successful entity up in Burlington Vermont, and another offshoot of the festival is on its third year in Portland, Maine.
Looks like the fest has scored a handful of corporate sponsors, including Faygo, Shinola, and Top Chico. Confirmed headliners include Car Seat Headrest, Moodymann, Dam Funk, Whitney, Mount Eerie, Mary Latimore, Priests, Julie Byrne, and the Craig Brown Band.
