RoboCop Day to Honor Detroit Cops

There's a new holiday in Detroit. And it's called RoboCop Day.

With the Imagination Station, the Detroit Police Department, and 20th Century Fox, a celebration will commence at noon on June 3 with a dedication of the statue that honors the hero made famous by the major motion picture. While it is unclear if the statue's erection date and placement will be announced, it seems Detroiters are one step closer to seeing the monument

Fans will also have the opportunity to meet RoboCop, get an exclusive look at props used in the movie and see a mock-up of the monument that will soon appear on a city street.

There will be free cupcakes from Just Baked, too. But only while supplies last.

Later, RoboCop will throw the first pitch at the Tigers game at Comerica Park against the Toronto Blue Jays. The game begins at 7 p.m.

Also planning to honor the hardworking civil servants in the city of Detroit, the event's aim is to help people meet Detroit's day-to-day heros as well as those

 popularized by Hollywood.

The meet and greet portion of the event will take place at the Detroit Police Department and Public Safety Headquarters at 1301 Third Street, Detroit.
