Def Jam Records changed the world 30 years ago when it released Public Enemy’s seminal album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.

Who better to pay tribute to the lasting impact of one of the most influential albums of all time than Public Enemy’s own Professor Griff? Paying tribute to the epic recording, Professor Griff will host a behind-the-music-style presentation on the making of the record and the sociopolitical impact it has had decades later.

Khary WAE Frazier and Mahogany Jones will also be on hand to deliver a special hip-hop performance inspired by Public Enemy.

30-Year Tribute to Public Enemy’s “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back” event will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 28 at Jam Handy; 2900 E. Grand Blvd., Detroit; eventbrite.com; Tickets are $20.
