Early Monday morning, rising Detroit rapper Dex Osama was shot and killed outside of a Detroit strip club, according to WDIV. He was 26.

According to the club's security footage, Osama was shot outside the club as he ran to a nearby gas station. The shooter was apparently waiting for him.

"The camera showed Dex actually being shot down the street and running to the gas station ," Crazy Horse's Freddy Abdullah told WDIV. Two others were also wounded at the club.

The up-and-coming rapper was mourned by other rappers on social media. Detroit's DeJ Loaf tweeted, "Dex, my boy!" According to Noisey, DeJ brought Osama onstage during her Summer Jamz 18 performance in June.

Rapper Meek Mill of Philadelphia posted a photo of him and Osama on Instagram, writing, "Had a lot of talks with you about getting out them streets and chasing ya dreams! I really believed in you and seen you putting on for Detroit!" He added, "for all my fellow young kings coming up tryna make it out, take ya time and think about where you want ya life to go! MAY GOD BLESS HIS SOUL! Never let them streets shatter ya dreams!!!"
