If you haven’t heard of Canadian doom-soul songstress Cold Specks, don’t fret. Ladan Hussein (aka Cold Specks) is still considerably new despite becoming a household name among lovers of celestial gloom. Since her Polaris Music Prize nomination in 2012 she’s been cranking out her hazy, slinky Massive Attack-esque tracks. Her latest release Fools Paradise dances with a sparseness and restraint, Hussein’s voice being the central instrument.
Cold Specks will perform Wednesday, November 29; Doors open at 8 p.m.; 1501 Holden St., Detroit; 313-338-3674; Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day of show.
