Alright Trick Trick, what have you been up to now you old scallywag?
We understand that Rick Ross was due to headline the Summer Jamz 17 mega rap show at Chene Park on Saturday night (June 21), but he had to cancel due to feeling “scared for his life” because of threats made by controversial local rapper Trick Trick.
We understand that 100-150 supporters of T2 formed a blockade around the service entrances preventing Ross and his people from entering. Eventually, he decided to leave rather than get into something serious.
“This incident greatly saddens me and our entire team at The Right Productions who work so diligent to host and produce outstanding entertainment performances at Chene Park. Reports from our venue operations and security teams indicate as a result of between 100-150 individuals lead by a local rapper, prevented and threated to harm Ross if he entered the grounds to perform at Chene Park Amphitheater. The band of individuals orchestrated a human blockade around the service entrance to the venue – preventing Mr. Ross and his entourage from entering the premises. A decision was made from Mr. Ross’ team the conditions were becoming threatening and posed a security risk,” said Shahida Mausi, president and CEO of Right Productions, Inc.
“We want to extent our deepest regrets to our patrons who attended Summer Jamz17 who should have been treated to an outstanding performance from Rick Ross. We have the upmost respect for our 2 guests at Chene Park and they deserve better. This is the fifth Summer Jamz event we have hosted with our partner Radio One and Host 107.5 FM – and until this point with no incident. Acts of intimidation, bullying, threats or violence of any kind that compromises the security and enjoyment of our shows will not be tolerated at Chene Park.
I will be reviewing this matter with our collective team and sponsoring host to ensure the integrity and respect we hold for our patrons and artists is upheld for future acts performing at Chene Park Amphitheater,” added Mausi.
Disappointed Ross fans will be offered discounted tickets to a future Chene Park show.
Ross, meanwhile, will remain on Trick’s “No Fly Zone” list. Many thought this an urban myth, but the events of Saturday night prove that it’s very real.
Essentially, if a rapper from out of town is going to come to Detroit and make a lot of money, they are apparently required to call Trick Trick first and make sure it’s ok, and he’ll tell said rapper what they have to do first. Rappers are not to blow into town, make a bunch of cash and then blow out again without doing something that constitutes “keeping it real” here.
In Trick Trick’s “No Fly Zone” tune, he raps: “Now we gotta make offers that these bitch ass niggas can’t refuse, See, these niggas think they can buy respect, They never even earned respect They never learned respect, So from here on out, Detroit is officially a no fly zone You heard it, all these bitch ass niggas, Don’t come to this motherfucker without permission, Please don’t make me have to demonstrate, It’s not about attention, It’s about the seriousness of what you bitch ass niggas think is a fucking joke, Y’all wanna play? I’m not fucking playing, man, I’m not fucking playing, man, okay”
