Last year found British singer-songwriter Jacob Banks basking in the release of his electronic soul-infused debut, Village. He’s supported tours for Sam Smith and Alicia Keys and in 2018 27-year-old Banks penned “In The Name of Love” for the film The Equalizer 2. Leading up to Village, though, the Nigerian-born artist released three EP’s, including 2017’s The Boy Who Cried Freedom which landed three singles on various television shows and video game scores. Pop singer Abir is also on the bill.

Jacob Banks will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1 at the Majestic Theatre; 4140 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-833-9700; majesticdetroit.com; Tickets are $22-$28.
