You know your Midwestern city is having a comeback when at any time of day, any day of the week, you can hear the hooting and hollering of 15 drunk people rolling down Woodward Avenue on the glorified pedicab known as Detroit Rolling Pub.

But you know that your Midwestern city has arrived when you can take that concept and apply it to a floating tiki bar.

In the summer of 2019, all of your wildest boozy daydreams will come true when Aloha Tiki Tours' privately chartered floating tiki bars set sail on the Detroit River.

Starting Memorial Day weekend, the small floating bars, which accommodate six guests each, will launch out of Detroit's Sinbad Marina and St. Clair Shores' Blossom Heath Park and Pier. Food and drinks must be provided by guests, but the floating tiki bar will furnish life jackets, bar stools, coolers, and a blender to help guests whip up their own frozen concoctions. The two-hour tours start at $250 on Monday through Thursday, and are available for $300 on Friday through Sunday.

Aloha Tiki Bars are the brainchild of Nick Blaszczyk, owner of Pedal Bar Detroit and Detroit Cycle Boats. The floating tiki bars will be available for tours from May 25 through Sept. 30. More information can be found at alohatikitours.com.
