Block Party at the Heidelberg

The controversial public art installment that’s captured national media attention is turning 30. The Heidelberg Project, created by Tyree Guyton, is raw, real, and somewhat unnerving, but never ceases to get a big reaction. Now, in celebration of three decades in Detroit, Inner State Gallery, 1XRun, and the people behind the art project are throwing a monthlong party with community-oriented activities, and it comes just as the Detroit Free Press is reporting Guyton’s intention to gradually dismantle the installation as it stands today. The block party will feature barbecue, live art painting, tarot card readings, live DJs, lawn games, and a 1XRun pop-up boutique.
