Penny Stamps speaker series: Kiki Smith

Born in West Germany, Kiki Smith’s family moved to America when she was just an infant and her east coast home shaped the artist she would become. She attended art school in Connecticut and later joined a radical art collective after moving to New York City in the ’70s. Her work is largely centered around sex, birth, and regeneration, but a large part of her career was also focused on AIDS — her sister Beatrice Smith died from the disease in the late ’80s. Smith will discuss her multidisciplinary work during this speaking engagement.
