Bobcat Bonnie's will open a new location in the former Zeke's Rock & Roll BBQ space in downtown Ferndale

Owner Matthew Buskard tells the Detroit News that his new restaurant will open next month, keep some Zeke's menu items like the veggie poutine, and hire on any Zeke's staff members who want to stay.

Bobcat Bonnie's operates locations in Corktown and Wyandotte. Its new space, at 240 W. Nine Mile Rd., used to be home to A.J.'s Cafe.

Last week, Zeke's, which opened in February 2015, announced that its closing this Thursday on its Facebook page.

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce Zeke’s will be closed permanently," a post on Facebook read. "These past few years have been nothing short of amazing and we thank everyone for making them happen. Please stop in within the next week, grab some delicious BBQ, and wish us farewell."
