The Fear Factory | "The fear only stops when your heart does," reads the tagline on the Fear Factory's website, and while that would sound like empty rhetoric coming from any other haunted house, the video on their website suggests otherwise. As a five-star rated haunted house — er, factory — with an added incentive (you get 3x your money back if you find the secret door) and Michigan's largest vortex tunnel, it's sure to make you wet your pants. Don't quote us on that, though.

The Deadland Haunted House | Haunted houses can get boring sometimes. Who wouldn't get bored with the same old thing over and over again? Deadland understands; that's why they're back with an all-new show for 2014. Prepare to scream and cry.

Dark Legacy Haunted Attractions | Do you remember that one kid in the neighborhood who somehow knew all of the scary conspiracy theories and took the opportunity to spread them to anyone within earshot? Well, if haunted houses were people, Dark Legacy would definitely be that kid. With a concept based on the Michigan government's infamous history, Dark Legacy is proving that even though it's the new kid in town (it just opened this year), it knows the wittiest way to scare the wits out of Michiganders.

Zoo Boo @ The Detroit Zoo | Who can forget about the best part of Halloween: trick-or-treating! The Detroit Zoo hasn't, and they've got you covered. Zoo Boo, the zoo's "annual merry-not-scary Zoo Boo celebration," promises fun for the whole family. Featuring a half-mile trick-or-treat trail through the park and an assortment of games, it's good, clean family fun. Well, at least as clean as a zoo could possibly be.

Just look at their description: "You may brave the bumpy country road to chow down on some donuts, cider, and many other nummins' at their country store - and you will most certainly enjoy choosing your own Halloween pumpkin - BUT! Will you dare encounter the HORRORS that await you at The PUMPKIN FACTORY?" See? Classic.

Boughan's Haunted Hayride of Fright | The only thing scarier than Children of the Corn is shucking corn, and luckily, you won't have to do any of that at Boughan's Haunted Hayride of Fright. You will, however, be enjoying a haunted hayride though pumpkin patches. If you have allergies, be afraid. Be very afraid.

Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village | Sometimes kids don't take too kindly to scary things, and that's why we suggest Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village. It's a mile-long stroll along a jack-o-lantern lit path, where you'll meet classic costumed characters like the Headless Horseman. There'll be live music and, of course, snacks. Bring the whole family!

Wiard's Orchard Night Terrors | Who says haunted houses have to be one-dimensional? Wiard's Orchard understands the right combination of horror and fun, hence their six-attraction-in-one location. With live music, an asylum, bakery, mineshaft, hayride, and, last but not least, paintball (all haunted events, mind you), Night Terrors has all the makings of a horrific time (in a good way).
