Deck yourself in crimson garb and craft your best insults, for the Marche du Nain Rouge returns. As the legend goes, Detroit founder Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac was attacked by the folkloric “Red Dwarf” who then cursed Cadillac and the city of Detroit. Cadillac died penniless after returning to his native France and Detroit, as you know, has suffered its share of ups and downs. Conceived of as a response to both the Equinox and Mardi Gras, Marche du Nain Rouge returns for its ninth year as Detroiters taunt, tease, and chase away the Nain and bar him from casting more wicked curses about town.

Marche du Nain Rouge begins at noon on Sunday, March 25 at the corner of Canfield and Second Streets, parade begins procession toward the Masonic Temple at 1 p.m.; marchedunainrouge.com; Event is free.
