You might have read about Los Angeles-based artist Cleon Peterson in this week's Metro Times. The Cranbrook Art Academy alum's solo show, Poison, is currently on view at Detroit's Library Street Collective Gallery.

On Monday, filmmaker G. Lewis Heslet, released a video portrait of Peterson. Heslet is the director of The Creative Lives project, a series that takes a behind-the-scenes look at the lives and processes of artists. In the 18-minute long film, Peterson opens up about the inspiration for his violent paintings, his past addiction, and more.

Watch the doc below. Poison is on view at the Library Street Collective gallery until Oct. 15.
