Toilet humor

W.C. Fields asked, “What contemptible scoundrel has stolen the cork to my lunch?” The Clash proclaimed “Nembutol numbs it all, but I prefer alcohol.” And Bluto, from Animal House, offered this: “My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.”

These are a just a few of the tried and true one-liners collected for the latest anthological undertaking from Craphouse Press: The World’s Largest Collection of Barroom Quips, Quotes, Jokes & Drunken Ramblings compiled by Rich Stewart. Stewart’s homemade book isn’t a dense Ulysses-esque read. And, of course, it occasionally steps over the “appropriate” line (aka referencing “Mr. Knipples”). But James Joyce could’ve understood its well-meaning sentiment: No alcoholic is really anonymous. The book is available (and, coincidentally, so are many of its readers) for a cheap price. Check it out at amazon.com for only $11.95.
