Coffee squared

On the smart side of Totem’s creative offerings is the edgy line of BooKan Clip Cups. These postmodern tea and coffee cups are perfectly squared and wonderful to look at, but potentially difficult to use. The biggest catch here is that the handle is just an attached rectangular strip, no more than a ceramic gum wrapper, really. This may not be a sensible feature, but neither is the mug’s finest trait: One face of the cubed cup is hyperextended, as though it has left part of itself in the wind. A large cup and saucer sits pretty for $24, also at www.totemdesign.com, or visit the store at 71 Franklin St. in New York City. Call 212-925-5506.
