From being visited by the Secret Service for his Trump diss on “The Ringer,” to creating one of the top-selling albums of last year, Eminem had a pretty eventful 2018.

According to BuzzAngle Music, the Detroit rapper’s tenth studio album Kamikaze — released in August of last year — sold 373,067 copies, coming in fourth place in the nation. In Detroit’s market, however, the album comes in at number three in album sales, according to Brian McCollum of the Detroit Free Press, joined by fellow Detroit native Jack White at number seven, and Frankenmuth-based rock band Greta Van Fleet at number eight.

In addition to topping album sale charts, Em was streamed 2,575,542,739 times, just trailing fellow hip-hop artists Post Malone, Drake, and the late XXXTentacion. However, Eminem completely dominated the list of overall album sales, selling more albums than anyone with a total of 755,027 albums sold last year.

But Eminem didn’t make headlines for just album sales in 2018. In response to Machine Gun Kelly’s diss track “Rap Devil,” Em released the diss track “Killshot,” which debuted at number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in its first week. In addition to his album release, Eminem produced Bodied; a comedy-drama focused on battle rap, for which he bought out AMC Forum 30 in Sterling Heights for a special screening for fans. Last but certainly not least, Em also made history in 2018 as the first rapper to get more than 100 million RIAA song awards.
