Woodward Dream Cruise

It’s almost pointless to write about the Dream Cruise. Now in its 22nd year, anyone in any proximity to the stretch of Woodward Avenue in Oakland County on the third Saturday of August is well-aware of the Cruise — the thousands of classic and rare cars that parade up and down the corridor (officials estimate it draws more than 30,000, from the world over), the sounds of revving engines, the smell of gasoline and exhaust (hey, some people are into it). For even more car love, the Rust Belt Market will host Hell on Wheels, featuring automotive-themed works from a bill of nearly all women. Starts at 9 a.m.; Woodward Avenue, from Ferndale to Pontiac; woodwarddreamcruise.com; Free admission.
