Richard Lloyd (of Television)

A gaggle of teenage friends-turned-runaway poets in 1970s New York resulted in the formation of Television — an art-punk band that developed a cult following spanning nearly 45 years. Guitarist Richard Lloyd joined the group ahead of their seminal debut release Marquee Moon in 1977 and he, along with Tom Verlaine, had a hand in establishing the now famous CBGB’s punk crowd after pushing Television as the storied club’s house band. While CBGB's is now defunct, what has survived Television’s tortured legacy is the success of the members’ many side projects — and Lloyd’s never-say-die punk spirit.
