Paul Keller Orchestra to Celebrate 33rd (minus 1) Anniversary
When: Mon., Feb. 21, 7-10 p.m. 2022
Thirty-three years ago, on Monday, January 15, 1989, at the old Bird of Paradise Jazz Club, with the support of owner Ron Brooks, Paul Keller assembled his first Ann Arbor-based jazz mini-big band and called it The Bird of Paradise Orchestra (BOPO). That night, a treasured, weekly jazz tradition was born. Today, the Paul Keller Orchestra (PKO) has become one of Michigan’s finest, oldest, and most-respected jazz big bands that only a pandemic could prevent the full 33 years from being celebrated. The evening will be dedicate to those affected by Covid. The band will be as dynamic as ever.
