Whether the name Gary Numan rings a bell, the commercialization of electronic music wouldn’t be where it is now without the British visionary. Numan, now a synth-pop veteran at 59 years old, hit the scene running (or more appropriately, driving) with the 1979 No. 1 single “Cars.” His latest record, 2017’s Savage (Songs from a Broken World), is Numan at his most goth — a post-apocalyptic concept album with all of his hallmarks (robotic vocal delivery, fearless experimentation)
