You can buy an entire Michigan island for just $580K

"The best social distancing there is!" That's how the listing for this week's Michigan real estate find reads. It's for Frying Pan Island, a nearly 3.5-acre lot located in Lake Huron, near De Tour Village in the Upper Peninsula.

The entire island is listed for just $580,000, but the amenities are few — basically, just a pier built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and, well, that's about it. "Owners have landed in a helicopter here!" the listing continues. "Would be a sailors dream to have a place to keep their boat while getting off the water as they explore the upper straits and the north channel! Lots of possibilities!!!"

According to LightHouseFriends.com, the island got its name when one Captain William Thorn, reportedly the first person to command a ship up the St. Mary's River and into Lake Superior, explored the island and found a frying pan left behind by an Indigenous tribe. A small lighthouse was erected in the late 1800s, which was removed about a century later.

You can take a tour of the island below. It's listed by Cindy Anderson with Lake Homes Realty, LLC.
