MAJESTIC'S NEW ROOM DEBUTS WITH THE DATSUNS

The Duchess and the Duke show tonight at the Majestic Theatre complex was supposed to be the "official" (or "unofficial," depending on how you look at it) opening of the facitity's newly remodeled lounge. In case you hadn't heard, what was formerly known as the Majestic Cafe is currently being transformed into "a hip, edgy, 200-capacity music venue and lounge that will also offer a unique, eclectic menu of late night eats," according to a recent press release. The venue has been closed for renovations since the announcement was first made...and it looks like it's not quite ready yet, as tonight's show has been moved to the Alley Deck instead

According to Majestic honcho Anthony Morrow, however, the new Cafe will be presenting the Datsuns tomorrow night, Tuesday, July 21st, in its intimate confines. "The room is still going to be very rough tomorrow," says Anthony, but he acknowledges that "it should be about 85 percent of the way there" by the time the recently announced Fucking Awesome Fest -- featuring something like 80 bands in four days -- rolls around on August 13th (more on that soon).

Anyway, get a preliminary look at the developing venue tomorrow night with the awesome Datsuns as a definite added treat. Special guests include Turbo Fruits and MT faves Silverghost, with an 8 p.m. show time. The next scheduled gig there is So Many Dynamos (with Cast Spells) on Saturday, August 1st), and then Wooden Wand on Friday, August 7th.

The Datsuns break in the Majestic's new room tomorrow night.
