City Slang: Brunch at the Jazz Cafe

On Sunday, June 24, CJAM/WDET DJ Judy Adams will host a brunch at the Jazz Café. All of the info can be found here.

Adams is known for having a wide and expansive knowledge of music across the genres and ages, and she promises that her set at the Jazz Café will be loaded with gems from Alice Coltrane, Eddie Hazel, Sun Ra, and Carl Craig, to Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Sly and Robbie, Erik Satie, Nickodemus, John Lee Hooker and much more.

Adams’ DJ career started in ’69, and she has barely been off the air since ’73. She has worked at WRIF, WXYZ, WWWW and WDET, and is currently at CJAM 99.1.

The tag-line for the event is “Practice your cool”, which we love as it allows us to imagine tons of Detroit’s jazz aficionados making Fonzie faces in a mirror.
