City Slang: Savage Grace added to DMA bill

Following the recent news that Suzi Quatro will be unable to perform at the Detroit Music Awards on April 27 as planned, ‘60s Grande Ballroom rockers Savage Grace have been added to the bill.

According to the press release, “More than 40 years after singer Al Jaquez co-founded the hard-hitting Detroit rock band Savage Grace, he'll take the stage at the 2012 Detroit Music Awards, backed by an all-star band. Taking the place of Jacquez's Savage Grace bandmates will be a super group calling themselves the Grande All-Stars, since most of them were lucky enough to play the legendary Grande Ballroom during its heyday in the late '60s and early '70s.”

”The Grande All-Stars will consist of lead guitarist Drew Abbott of psychedelic power trio Third Power and Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band, John Drake of The Amboy Dukes, bassist Mark Gougeon of blues-rockers Measured Chaos as well as the Mitch Ryder Band, and keyboardist Chris Codish of The Brothers Groove and the Motor City Jazz Orchestra. (Drummer TBA.)”

In addition, Savage Grace will play with fellow Grande rockers Jagged Edge at the Magic Bag in Ferndale on June 8.
