If you read "Justice at any price?" in this rag last week, you're aware that a decidedly low road is being taken in an attempt to control Michigan's high court. We aren't the only ones to have noticed.

Over at Wayne State University's law school, the student board of governors will hold a forum Friday, Oct. 20, to analyze the issue.

"What's behind the controversy?" teases a press release for the event. "Why does it matter that the Michigan Supreme Court has overruled nearly 20 precedents since Jan. 1, 1999? Is the court merely interpreting statutes as written, or is it an activist court taking away the rights of tort victims."

The way News Hits sees it, the question is a no-brainer. This current court isn't just activist; the Republicans who form a majority are downright radical.

But don't take our word for it. Attend the forum, which features four of the state's leading law professors, and decide for yourself if there isn't a better way to select our justices.
