Former Pink Pump owner to host salon seminar

Tawny Thieu-Walker, the former owner of the now defunct Pink Pump chain, will host a seminar entitled "The Business of Beauty: A workshop for Beauty Industry Professionals" on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 4-6 p.m. It'll take place at Liquid Salon, which Thieu-Walker owns. 

Thieu-Walker has hosted a number of seminars about effective business and salon practices and they've all been sold out, according to a press release. 

Thieu-Walker has been called the pint sized powerhouse, but she retail success recently took something of a down turn. Her Pink Pump chain grew for many years, and Thieu-Walker opened locations in Royal Oak, Birmingham, Bloomfield, as well as sister stores P2 and P2Exchange. But by late last year all of her brick and mortar stores had been closed. Now, her shoe-selling business operates out of a website called Puss in Pumps, which he publicist calls a savvy business decision. She was also part owner of Two/Eighteen, an upscale men's boutique in Royal Oak that she opened with Burn Rubber's Rick Williams and Roland Coit. That store, which opened in 2012, is also now closed. 

However, Thieu-Walker's downturn in success has yet affected her successful salon, Liquid, where the workshop will be held. The workshop promises to help beauty professionals who want to achieve a new level of success. Topics covered will include establishing and building your business behind the chair, understanding key factors to success, how to grow your business, the value of selling retail, developing your brand, and how to promote your business via social media. 

Liquid Salon is located at 6652 Telegraph Rd., Bloomfield Hills. Tickets are $60 a piece.
