Keep your eye on the night sky tonight, because you might catch a glimpse of the northern lights over Michigan.

The Space Weather Prediction Center reports that there will be a G1 geomagnetic storm this evening which would allow for sightings of the polar lights.

The best chance of viewing this spectacular solar phenomenon would be in higher latitude regions of the US, including parts of Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maine, Montana and North Dakota.

You might have better luck seeing the lights from Northern Michigan than from the Detroit area, however, but be sure to keep an eye on the heavens tonight between sunset and 1 a.m. for your chance to admire the Aurora borealis.
