This is a musical excursion that has reggae at its heart, but casts an eye to more worldly expressions &emdash; from the Felaesque Afro-beat of “Africa Is Calling” to the Hendrix-like guitar excursion of “Jamaican Nights.” More than stops on a whirlwind tour, these mostly instrumental cuts (featuring saxophones by Moe G and drumming by Sundiata Keita) are well integrated into Kente’s consciousness vision. Dub, ska and some mighty Kente guitar solos make this a highly recommended listen.
