To the dismay of singer/songwriter Lauren Mayberry, her alluring appearance often seems to be first thing people want to discuss when it comes to her dark and excellent synth-pop band, Chvrches. Every Open Eye, the latest unapologetically twisted release by the Scottish trio, may finally be visceral enough to shift the conversation to their musical merits.
