Monday night, Eminem premiered “Phenomenal,” a new song the soundtrack of the upcoming Jake Gyllenhaal-starring boxing flick, Southpaw

As Rolling Stone points out, Eminem was originally supposed to star in the film, which would have been his first major acting role since 2002’s 8 Mile. Em wound up leaving the project to record The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which is when director Antoine Fuqua replaced him with Gyllenhaal. Eminem now serves as the executive producer of the film’s soundtrack, which will be released through his Shady Records.

As the Detroit Free Press notes, the track was co-written by longtime Detroit collaborator Luis Resto and his brother, Mario Resto. You can stream the track below.
