Following mass confusion created on Monday after the Los Angeles Police Department prematurely announced the death of Tom Petty, the rock icon died later that evening. The L.A. Times confirmed Petty died after suffering cardiac arrest at the age of 66.

The mix-up likely caused fans to go on a roller coaster ride of emotions — from grief to relief and back to grief again.

But no matter where you are along the grieving process, El Club is giving Detroit-area fans a chance to celebrate the singer at a Tom Petty appreciation night tonight, Oct. 3. Craig Brown and Eric Allen, both of Detroit country band the Craig Brown Band, will serve as DJs. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. and goes “late” according to the flier. The event is free.

Here’s a slideshow of photos from Petty’s last Detroit-area show at DTE Energy Music Theatre in July.
