Eastern Michigan University’s public radio broadcasting affiliate WEMU-FM 89.1 will celebrate its 50th anniversary later this year by hosting the widely-adored NPR program “Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!”

“WEMU has always had a special bond with Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! ever since we hosted Peter Sagal’s first station visit in 2005. We can’t wait to share this special evening with you,” said Molly Mortherwell, WEMU general manager, in a statement Monday. The program is hosted by Peter Sagal and averages over four million listeners each week.

The event is slated to take place Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Hill Auditorium on the University of Michigan’s campus.

Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, but a special presale begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. Ticket prices range from $30-$125 for VIP treatment; they can be purchased online, at the box office, or by phone at 734-764-2538. More info is available here
